Medical Coding is the process of transforming descriptions of medical diagnoses and procedures into universal medical code numbers. The diagnoses and procedures are usually taken from a variety of sources within the medical record, such as the transcription of the doctor’s notes, laboratory results, radiologic results, and other sources.
The Process of Medical Coding:
- Receipt of files from hospital, clinics, and other medical facilities.
- Pre-Coding: After receive the files, certified medical coders allocated the file
- Coding: Cerfified Coders handle the coding using references as ICD-9-CM, LMRP, CPT Assistant, HCPCS Level II.
- Send the successful coding work back to hospitals.
- Evalution
